Sync recovery, duplicate cleanup, and link checks

Indexer now has safer extension recovery tools, duplicate cleanup, and opt-in email settings for bookmark health alerts.

This update focuses on reliability: keeping browser extensions aligned, cleaning up duplicate bookmarks, and making URL health checks more useful.

What changed

  • The extension can clean up duplicate bookmarks when the same URL appears in the same folder after sync or import.
  • Extension settings now include a Recovery section for advanced repair actions.
  • Recovery push can restore Indexer from the current browser when that browser has the correct bookmark library.
  • Firefox and Chrome root folders are normalized so Bar, Other, and Mobile map more cleanly across browsers.
  • Pro email preferences now include daily recaps and broken-link alerts.

Why it matters

Bookmark sync needs to be boring. If two browsers disagree, users should not have to manually inspect database rows or clean up duplicate folders.

The new recovery tools are intentionally tucked away. Normal sync should still be the default path. Recovery exists for the rare case where one browser has the right data and Indexer needs to rebuild from it.

What is next

  • More visible bookmark health status in the web app.
  • Clearer sync diagnostics when a browser is missing credentials or has reached a device limit.
  • Continued polish around folder selection and bulk editing.
